Prof. Jamal Ahmad Awarded With Gen. Amir Chand Oration

National Academy of Medical Sciences, the premier body of Medical Sciences has awarded “Gen Amir Chand Oration” award to the noted endocrinologist Professor Jamal Ahmad, Director Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology JN Medical College Aligarh Muslim University for the year 2011-2012.

AMU To Provide Transport Services To Girl Students

The Aligarh Muslim University has decided to facilitate transport services to the female students of Abdullah Hall, Indira Gandhi Hall and Begum Sultan Jahan Hall of Residence.

The decision was taken in a consultation meeting chaired by Prof. S. Mehdi Abbas Rizvi, officiating Vice Chancellor. A committee was constituted under the convenership of DSW with Proctor, MIC (CAW) as members.

Bihar Gives 224 Acres of Land For AMU Kishanganj Center

Amidst  a wave of enthusiasm, a new chapter of modern education was initiated in Kishanganj district of Bihar with the transfer of 224.02 acres of land to Aligarh Muslim University by the Government of Bihar for establishing AMU Kishanganj Centre. The Transfer of documents along with the certificate for delivery of possession was initiated by Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Government of Bihar.

JNMC Receives Project on Narora Atomic Power Station

The Department of Community Medicine, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been granted a project entitled “Epidemiological Survey of Population in and around Narora Atomic Power Station (NAPS)” by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL), New Delhi.

Medha Patkar Delivers Prof. K. P. Singh Memorial Lecture at AMU

Delivering the second K. P. Singh Memorial Lecture on “People development and Globalization” as part of the University Extension Lecture at Aligarh Muslim University, noted Social Activist, Medha Patkar said that laws should be made according to the constitution that will promote the cause of the people’s development. This is the real challenge where development will depend on the resources, capacities and needs of the local population rather than dictated by forces o globalization.

Sibal To Inaugurate Malappuram Centre on Dec 24

Union Minister of HRD, Communications and Information Technology, Mr. Kapil Sibal will inaugurate the Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Centre on December 24, 2011 at Sir Syed Nagar, Chelamala, Perinthalmanna in Malappuram District, Kerala.

Mr. Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala will preside over the inaugural ceremony and Mr. E. Ahmad, Minister of State for HRD and External Affairs will be the Guest of Honour.

Ex-Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran Releases Nahjul Balagha at AMU

Dr. Ali Akbar Wilayati, Ex-Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran today released the publication of about one thousand year old manuscript called ‘Nahjul Balagha’ at the concluding function of Golden Jubilee celebrations of Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.

The rarest manuscript that consists of letters, speeches and aphorism of Hazrat Ali, the fourth Caliphate of Islam has been published as a joint venture of AMU and Iran.

Lemongrass is commonly used in making teas, soups, and curries. Its oil is also suitable for soap industries and synthesis of vitamin A. Furthermore, it relieves cough and nasal congestion besides keeping mosquitoes away”, said Dr. Mohd. Masroor Akhtar Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University while delivering lecture at the Euro-Mediterranean Conference on “Plant Natural Products" at Alexandria University, Egypt.
