Prof. Faizan Mustafa Appointed the Vice Chancellor of Nalsar University

Prof. Faizan Mustafa, former Dean, Faculty of Law and former Registrar, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Nalsar Law University, Hyderabad. Prof. Mustafa is presently the Vice Chancellor of National Law University, Orissa.

The search committee headed by Hon’ble Justice A. K. Ganguly, former Judge, Supreme Court of India and former Chief Justice of Karnataka suggested three names including that of Prof. Faizan Mustafa after short-listing 10 candidates.

AMU Students Union to Organize All India Debate

The Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union is organizing “All India Sir Syed Memorial Debate-2012” from March 26-27, 2012.

Syed Fahad Husain, Convener of All India Sir Syed Memorial Debate said that the details of the debate and the registration form has been uploaded on the University website www.amu.ac.in. The last date of registration is 23rd March 2012.  

Dr. Noor Mohammad Joins As Aew Vice Chancellor of AMU

Dr. Noor Mohammad, a 1977 batch retired IAS officer took over charge as Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University yesterday. He paid rich floral tributes to the founder at Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s tomb today. He said that Aligarh is very close to his heart. He said, “My priority is to restore the essential ethos of this great seat of learning and will take strong preemptive steps to maintain law and order at the campus”.

AMU Polytechnics Renamed as University Technological Institute(s)

The Vice Chancellor in exercise of powers vested in him under Section 19 (3) of AMU Amendment Act, 1981 on behalf of Academic Council, Executive Council and AMU Court has approved the proposal to rename the University Polytechnic and Women's Polytechnic to "University Technological Institute (Boys)" and “University Technological Institute (Girls)" respectively to be headed by separate Directors.

Prof. Jeffrey W. Legro of US Delivered Lecture at AMU

Prof. Jeffrey W. Legro, Professor of Politics and Randolgh P. Compton, Professor at University of Virginaia delivered a lecture on “The New Architecture of World Politics and Who Controls It” at the Faculty of Social Science, Aligarh Muslim University. Prof. Legro is specialist in international relations and author of several books.

The Student Union of Aligarh Muslim University is organizing “All India Mushaira” in the Memory of Jananpeeth Awardees Prof. Shaharyar on 15 March 2012 at 9.00 p.m. at the Athletics Ground of Aligarh Muslim University.

Prominent Urdu poet Wasim Bareilby, Anwar Jalalpuri, Kaleem Qaisar, Manzar Bhopali, Tahir Faraz, Kunwar Javed, Altaf Zia, Imran Pratapgari, Azad Pratapgari, P.K. Doot, Dr. Naseem Nighat, Tarannum Kanpuri, Tanveer Ghazi, Hashim Firozabadi and Iqbal Ashar etc. are expected to participate in the Mushaira.

AMU Court Approves Enhancement in VC's retirement Age

The special meeting of the Aligarh Muslim University Court, the supreme governing body of the University today resolved to approve with a voice majority vote the amendments/additions in Statute 2(5) of the Statutes of the University relating to age of retirement of the Vice Chancellor from 65 to 70 years.

The meeting was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sibghatullah Farooqui. All local members and some outside members of the University Court attended the meeting.
