Prof Syed Kafeel Ahmad Qasmi, Chairman, Department of Arabic, Aligarh Muslim University has been conferred the President’s certificate of Honour by the President of India. The award carries a medal, shawl and fifty thousand rupees per year for lifetime. Dr Mohd Ehtashamuddin, Assistant Professor, Institute of Persian Research has also received Maharshi Badarayan Vyas Samman from the President of India. The award carries one lakh rupees. Both the awards were conferred at a ceremony held recently in New Delhi.

AMU Faculty Conducts Workshop on Management of Difficult Airways at Guwahati Medical College

Dr. S Moied Ahmed, Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology and Teacher In-Charge, ICU, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University was invited to conduct workshop on “Management of Difficult Airways” during the 61st Annual Conference of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists held at Guwahati Medical College, Assam. Prof Moied provided training to delegates how to manage patients in the Operation Theater who cannot be ventilated and intubated during delivering anaesthesia.

Dr Sandhya Maheshwari, Professor, Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Dr ZA Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded with Fellowship of Pierre Fauchard Academy for her outstanding contribution in the field of Research and Academics at its 27th convocation and Annual meeting held at R&R Dental Centre of Army Hospital, New Delhi.

AMU Faculty Attends ‘International Studies Convention-2013’ at JNU

Major General (Professor) GG Dwivedi, Department of West Asian Studies, Aligarh Muslim University attended the annual International Studies Convention-2013 on “Re-Imagining Global Orders: Perspectives from the South’’ at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The three-day event was supported by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Indian Council of Social Sciences Research. Leading Indian universities collaborated in the organization of the convention.

AMU Faculty Attends International Symposium in Turkey

Prof. S. M. Razaullah Ansari, former faculty member in the Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University attended an international symposium on “Ottoman Science and Philosophy in 16thCentury”, which was organized as part of centenary celebrations of birth of Aydin Sayili at Kastamonu University, Kastamonu, Turkey. The symposium was organized jointly by the University of Kastamonu and Kamal Ataturk Centre for Culture, Language and History. Late Prof.

Dr Qazi Fariduddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University received the Raman Fellowship of UGC to visit USA for one year under Indo-US 21st Century Knowledge Initiative for conducting advance research in Molecular Biology in relation to Food Security at Michigan State University, USA.

Dr. Fariduddin is the first from AMU to receive this prestigious fellowship. He has already joined Prof Sheng Yang He Lab on December 02, 2013.

AMU Faculty Member Conferred Fellowship of ZSI

Dr. Mohd Kamil Usmani, Associate Professor in Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a lecture at 24th All India Congress of Zoology at University of Kalyani, West Bengal. He was conferred fellowship of Zoological Society of India by Prof. Rattan Lal Hangloo, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kalyani at the inaugural function. He was also honored with recognition award at valedictory function for his contributions.

Setting a precedence of unparallel sense of hospitality, the Aligarh Muslim University teachers would provide lodging facility to the delegates of XXXVII Indian Social Science Congress at their houses.

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University is hosting XXXVII Indian Social Science Congress on the topic ''Building Ecologically Sustainable Society'' from December 27 to 31, 2013. Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India is scheduled to grace the inaugural session as chief guest on December 27.
