The Office bearers and the Members of the Executive Committee of Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association (AMUTA) recently organised Iftar at the AMU Staff Club, where the Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor with his wife Dr Hameeda Tariq and AMU Pro Chancellor, Nawab Ibne Said Khan of Chhatari and guests from various departments, faculties and offices of the university broke their day long fast in congregation.
The Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association (AMUTA) recently met the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor to congratulate him on taking the responsibility of leading the University and carrying forward the mission of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
Referring to the resolution passed by the Executive Committee of AMU Teachers’ Association (AMUTA) on January 5, 2015, the Aligarh Muslim University has welcomed its “unconditional support” to the University administration in defending University’s minority status case in the Supreme Court, saying “it was the least expected from a body which derived its sustenance from AMU”.
The Aligarh Muslim University has refuted the allegation of the AMU Teachers’ Association (AMUTA) that the University administration’s decision to seek AMUTA members’ consent for deduction towards the Teachers’ Sports Club membership fee every month, is “aimed at curbing the democratically elected body” of AMU teachers. The University has clarified that the Honorary Secretary, AMUTA had himself mentioned earlier that the money collected by the AMUTA members was “private money” and the University had no jurisdiction on that money.
Professor Hamid Ali of Petroleum Studies at the Aligarh Muslim University has been declared elected as President of AMU Teachers’ Association (AMUTA). He is also the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
Dr. Aftab Alam, Associate Professor of Political Science was elected as Honorary Secretary of AMUTA and Dr. Mohd. Irfan of Museology was elected unopposed as Joint Secretary.
Prof. Abdul Qaiyum, Department of Physics, Mr. S. Mustafa K.Q. Zaidi, Department of Library and Information Scinces has been elected the President and Honorary Secretary of the AMU Teachers’ Association, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh while Dr. Iqbal Ahmad Qasmi, Department of Ilmul Advia has been elected as Joint Secretary in the elections held yesterday evening.
