Recruitment Drive For The UG And PG Students

IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Barnala, Punjab carried out recruitment drive for the Under Graduate and Post Graduate students of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus.
 
The recruitment drive was jointly organized by Training & Placement office (General) and TPO (Industrial Chemistry). Out of eligible 70 students who appeared for the written test, 40 students qualified for the interview. A total 17 students have been selected at the annual package of 3.40 lacs.

Dr Masarrat Ali’s Demise Mourned In AMU

The faculty members, students and staff of the Department of Biochemistry, Aligarh Muslim University recently held a condolence meeting in the Department premises to mourn the sad demise of Dr Masarrat Ali, who passed away after suffering a massive heart attack after the Friday prayers in San Antonio, Texas, USA, where he has been living for the past two decades. The meeting was presided by Professor Riaz Mahmood, Chairpserson, Department of Biochemistry.

AMU Establishes Centre Of STEM-ER In Consonance With Ohio State University

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has established a Centre of Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics - Education and Research (STEM-ER) in consonance with the Ohio State University (OSU), US, under the ambitious Indo-US 21st Century Knowledge Initiative, earlier known as Obama-Singh Knowledge Initiative and supported by the US-Indo Education Foundation (USIEF). The STEM-ER project aims at training graduate students to become the world class teachers and researchers at the University level.

Prof Arjmand Receives Distinguished Women Scientists Award 2016

Aligarh Muslim University academic, Professor Farukh Arjmand associated with the University’s Department of Chemistry has been conferred with the ‘Distinguished Women Scientists Award 2016’ by the Indian Society of Chemist and Biologist. Prof Arjmand received the award during the 23rd ISCB International Conference (ISCBC-2017) Interface of Chemical Biology in Drug Research held at Chennai.

Sabiha Selected For Indo-US STEM Research Fellowships

Ms Sabiha Parveen, Research Scholar, Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University has been selected for Indo-US STEM Research Fellowships, 2016. She will carry out her research work at Ohio State University, U.S.

Under the fellowship Ms Parveen will work under the mentorship of Prof James A Cowan on “Design and Synthesis of metal-based antitumor chemotherapeutic drug entities and their in vitro interaction studies with biomolecules viz., DNA, RNA and nucleotides”.

Lecture Held On Arthritis

Chemistry Department, Aligarh Muslim University organized a lecture by Prof. Tariq Haqqi, Northeast Ohio Medical University, USA on “Dietary Antioxidant: Useful or Useless in Osteoarthriris”.

In his lecture, Professor Haqqi highlighted the role of reactive oxygen species in the treatment of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. He also threw light on the use of pomegranate and butea monosperma (Gulmohar) plant in the treatment of arthritis and various other bone diseases.

US Based Professor To Deliver Lectures At AMU

Prof. Tariq Haqqi, Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Northeast Ohio Medical University, USA will deliver lectures at the Aligarh Muslim University on November 23, 2015.

The Boston based Aligarh Alumni Association of New England, along with the Training and Placement Office (General), AMU has organized a lecture of Prof. Haqqi at Training and Placement Office at 10 am on Nov 23, on “Opportunities for higher education in the United States”.
