Department of Zoology
The Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University organised a career counselling program for the newly admitted BSc and MSc first semester students.
While welcoming the students, Professor Waseem Ahmad (Chairperson, Department of Zoology) said that students will be provided with quality teaching and best facilities to excel in their academics and to qualify for competitive exams.
Mr Salman Ahmad, a Phd student with the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been conferred with ‘Science Communication Award’ at an international conference held in Australia. The conference was organised by the Australian Society of Fish Biology at Albany, Australia.
Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today in a meeting with all the Deans of Faculties, Principals of Colleges, Chairmen of Departments, Directors and Coordinators of Institutes/Centres/Units, elected members of Executive Council, Finance Officer, Controller of Examinations, Dean Students Welfare and Proctor said that AMU will have no compromises on criminals and there will be no withdrawal of rustications.
Miss Hadiya Husain, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University won third prize in the Poster competition held during the National Seminar on “Biotechnology in Health Care: Challenges And Opportunities” organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi under UGC-SAP (DRS-I).
Ms. Hadiya, whose work earned appraisal from the delegates, is pursuing Ph.D. under Dr. Riaz Ahmad in Genetics.
Prof. H.S.A. Yahya, former Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University presented a keynote address on Ecological Services for Maintaining Forest Ecosystems with Special References to Ecology and Conservation of Barbets (Megalaima spp) at the International Congress organized by Indian Biodiversity Congress at Pondicherry.
Dr Yasir Hasan Siddique, Assistant Professor associated with the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University recently won the ‘Best Oral Presentation Award’ during the Society of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (SPER) 6th Annual International Conference held at Jaipur National University, Jaipur.
Professor Iqbal Parvez, Chariman, Department of Zoology, AMU has been nominated as the Chief Election Officer to conduct the AMU Students Union (AMUSU) elections, while Dr Roohi Abida Ahmad, Associate Professor, History Section, Women’s College has been appointed as Chief Election Officer to conduct the elections of under-graduate students of Women’s College..
The AMUSU elections will be soon held in accordance with the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations.
Aligarh Muslim University Scholar, Dr Nuzhat Parveen has received ‘Young Scientist Research Fellowship’ with a research grant of Rs 32, 79,000 awarded by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
She will work on Nanotoxicology at Cytogenetics and Molecular Toxicology Laboratory, Section of Genetics, Department of Zoology, AMU, Aligarh.
