Professor Shamir Hasan, Dean, Faculty of International Studies has been appointed as the Chairperson, Department of Strategic and Security Studies and Department of Brazilian and South African Studies till a professor/associate professor is appointed in these deparments, with immediate effect.
Maj Gen Dr G G Dwivedi, Professor, Faculty of International Studies, Aligarh Muslim University recently attended a workshop on ‘Value Based Leadership’ held at UGC-HRDC Punjab University, Chandigarh.
During his address on the topic of “Redefining Art and Practice of Leadership” at the workshop, Prof Dwivedi said that leadership is about impact through influence and not wielding authority, which amounts to merely exercising headmanship.
Maj Gen G G Dwivedi, Professor and Chairperson, Faculty of International Studies, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a lecture on “China’s Radical Military Reforms-Strategic Perspective” at the National Defence College, India’s Premier Institute which trains senior defence, civil services and foreign offices on a yearlong programme in ‘Security, Strategic Studies and Global Affairs’.
Delivering the Extra-Mural lecture on “Political Islam and Global Jihad: Prospect for Reform in West Asia”, Mr. Talmiz Ahmad, former Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, Oman and UAE said, “Islam’s core beliefs are uniform across the Muslim realm, but diversities have emerged due to sundry interpretations of the basic texts, changes in belief and practice due to new cultural encounters, deep and pervasive sense of crisis, influence of secular intellectuals and Islamic response in the form of Muslim salvation in Islam through a diametrical return to Sharia”.
The President of India in his capacity as Visitor of the Aligarh Muslim University has approved the proposal of the University for the establishment of Faculty of International Studies and creation of eight new Departments of studies under this faculty.
The Academic Council of the Aligarh Muslim University at its ordinary meeting today approved in principle the proposal for establishment of Faculty of International Studies with multiple departments of studies. The meeting of the Academic Council was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah.
