The Office bearers and the Members of the Executive Committee of Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association (AMUTA) recently organised Iftar at the AMU Staff Club, where the Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor with his wife Dr Hameeda Tariq and AMU Pro Chancellor, Nawab Ibne Said Khan of Chhatari and guests from various departments, faculties and offices of the university broke their day long fast in congregation.

A team of surgeons led by Dr G S Hashmi, Chairperson, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr Z A Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University have successfully removed a huge dermoid cyst, a female patient was suffering with for the past two years.
The cyst was over the patient’s neck, extending inside her mouth causing swelling, difficulty in breathing, elevation of tongue and narrowing of airway. The team of surgeons said that the patient was also suffering with a compression of voice box.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University today observed the ‘International Nurses Day’ celebrations in which Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal, JNMC and Vice Chancellor designate attended the function as the Chief Guest, while renowned paediatrician Dr Hamida Tariq and Professor M Amanullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, JNMC were the Guests of Honour.
To mark the ‘World Asthma Day’, the Pulmonology and ID (P&ID) Clinic, Department of Paediatrics, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University recently spent a week to create awareness of Asthma in masses through different constructive activities.

Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, Assistant Professor in Department of Surgery, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, has been selected for a two year training and fellowship programme in Urology at prestigious Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK. He completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from J.N. Medical College and received DNB from National Board of Examination, New Delhi, and MRCS from Glasgow, UK.
Dr Mehdi Hayat Shahi, Assistant Professor associated with the Interdisciplinary Brain Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded Mrs Farha Deeba Haq award for outstanding contribution in the field of biomedical sciences. Dr Shahi has been awarded by the Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences during the 6th Annual Meeting of Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences and International Conference at Bhavnagar in Gujarat.
In a rare achievement, Professor Naeem Ahmad Khan associated with the Department of Ilmul Advia, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University has developed a first of it’s kind medicine, which will cure diabetes by regenerating the primary function of beta islet cells to store and release insulin.
Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) and eminent alumnus, Padma Bhushan Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi today inaugurated Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College’s Cardiology Cath Lab by unveiling the plaque to be placed at the Lab.
With the inauguration, JNMC will be the only medical college and hospital to have a cath lab in the distance of Kanpur to Delhi.
