In a rare achievement, Professor Naeem Ahmad Khan associated with the Department of Ilmul Advia, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University has developed a first of it’s kind medicine, which will cure diabetes by regenerating the primary function of beta islet cells to store and release insulin.

Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) and eminent alumnus, Padma Bhushan Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi today inaugurated Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College’s Cardiology Cath Lab by unveiling the plaque to be placed at the Lab.
With the inauguration, JNMC will be the only medical college and hospital to have a cath lab in the distance of Kanpur to Delhi.
Department of Tashreeh-wa-Munafeul-Aza, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University today started two-days National Workshop on Teaching and Research Methodology in Munafeul Aza (Physiology). The Inaugural function was held in the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College Auditorium.
Prof Mohd Fahim, Adjunct Professor Physiology, HIMSR, New Delhi, who attended the Programme as the Chief Guest said that the topic of the seminar also has clinical importance in a big way.
The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) recently carried out a successful open-heart surgery on 25-year-old, Khushboo, a native of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh.
Khushboo’s husband, Sachin brought her to JNMC after she complained of breathing difficulties. Mitral Valve Replacement procedure was immediately carried out on the patient.
Teams of JNMC, VNMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi jointly operated the patient.
With the objective of generating awareness among the masses regarding the increasing impact of Cancer disease, a meeting of ‘Society for Cancer Prevention and Education’ was organized under the presidentship of Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University.
Prof Mansoor welcomed the members and said that it is hoped that all concerned will make a positive and concrete contribution in fulfilling the aims and objectives of the society.
Noted scientist Dr. S.V. Singh, Animal Health Division, Central Institute for Research on Goats, Mathura delivered a University Extension Lecture on "Diagnosis and Control of Paratubercular Infection in Human Beings". The lecture was held by the Department of Surgery, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University. Prof. Jamal Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Medicine presided over the event and welcomed the speaker.
The Centre of Cardiology, JN Medical College (JNMC), AMU recently organised a free peacemaker camp, which was attended by a large numbers of patients. The camp was inaugurated by Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS, JNMC and Prof Jamal Ahmad, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, JNMC.
During the camp, volunteer doctors checked patients with various types of pacemakers and also programmed and checked ICDs.
The Interdisciplinary Brain Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University organized a two-day National Symposium on “Emerging Trends in Biological Sciences: Emphasis on Neurosciences”. The symposium was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen Zameeruddin Shah. The Vice Chan--cellor appreciated the endeavour of the medical fraternity attending to human ailments and many disorders, like Alzheimer, Parkinson and depression.
The President of India, in capacity of the Visitor of the Aligarh Muslim University has approved the creation of three new departments in the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College
The newly created departments are Department of Paediatric Surgery, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Department of Neurosurgery.
