Sabiha Selected For Indo-US STEM Research Fellowships

Ms Sabiha Parveen, Research Scholar, Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University has been selected for Indo-US STEM Research Fellowships, 2016. She will carry out her research work at Ohio State University, U.S.

Under the fellowship Ms Parveen will work under the mentorship of Prof James A Cowan on “Design and Synthesis of metal-based antitumor chemotherapeutic drug entities and their in vitro interaction studies with biomolecules viz., DNA, RNA and nucleotides”.

Jawed Akhtar, Officiating Finance Officer of the Aligarh Muslim University, through a circular sent to all Deans of Faculties, has urged them to send recommendations on prescribed proforma for the award of Non-NET UGC scholarship to newly admitted M.Phil. and PhD scholars of their respective faculties through the office of the Dean, Students’ Welfare.

AMU Faculty Gets Raman Fellowship

Dr. Tariq Aftab, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded the “Raman Fellowship 2015-16” by the University Grants’ Commission to visit USA for conducting research in Molecular Biology in relation to Food Security at Michigan State University (MSU), USA. This programme comes under the flagship of INDO-US 21st Century Knowledge Initiative. His research will explore the ideas to develop strategies in the field of crop production and global food security.

AMU Chest Physician And Assistant Prof Becomes The Youngest Indian Receiver Of FRCP

Associate Professor with the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College’s Department of Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (Pulmonary Medicine), Dr Mohammad Shameem has qualified the Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Edinburg, Scotland. He is the youngest Chest physician from India to receive this honor.

Dr Shameem will now sign for the ‘College Roll’ of Royal College of Physicians, Edinburg to provide professional support for UK educational system. He will also be invited as an external examiner to conduct MRCP (UK) exam.

Dr. Latif Zafar Jilani Awarded International Fellowship

Dr. Latif Zafar Jilani, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded Joint Replacement Fellowship of Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association. He is one of the six orthopaedic surgeons selected for this prestigious fellowship from the countries in Asia Pacific region.
