The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University with the Healing Little Hearts, UK team led by Consultant Paediatric Interventionist, Dr Sanjiv Nichani is about to achieve a rare feat by conducting free heart surgeries of children from lower income families with heart and vascular abnormalities.
The Department of Paediatric Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has entered the Guinness World Record Book by successfully performing laparoscopic cholecystectomy on a 244-days old girl, surpassing the previous record of the surgery on a 271-days-old infant.
Dr Rizwan Ahmad Khan, Chairperson of the Department diagnosed the patient with gallstone disease before performing the laparoscopic procedure with his team which included Dr Danish. The girl has been discharged after recovery.

Doctors at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Aligarh Muslim University achieved another milestone by carrying out surgery on a 85-year old patient for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The patient, Ahmed Ali had reported chest pain on exertion and after having food. He was later diagnosed with blockage of all major vessels of heart for which he consented for an Open heart surgery.
The surgeon’s team, led by Prof M H Beg, comprised Dr Mohd Azam Haseen, Dr Mamoon Karimi and Dr Ghazanfar Khan.
