Dr Dinesh Raj R (Junior Resident, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College—JNMC, Aligarh Muslim University) has won the third place in the ‘Torrent Young Scholar Award 2017’ (Dermatology) competition in the zonal category during the Sixth Derma Fest held at New Delhi. He will now participate in the final round scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on December 3, 2017.
Dr Arshad Ahmed and Dr Md Ishtiyak, final year students of M S Orthopaedics (Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College-JNMC, Aligarh Muslim University-AMU) won the Orthopaedic Quiz Competition organised by UP Orthopaedic Association in its Mid-Term Symposium-2017 at the Hotel Abha Regency, Aligarh.
The competition had eight teams including King George's Medical University, Lucknow and Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University. All the teams were from Uttar Pradesh based medical colleges.

Professor Naiyer Asif has been appointed as Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University for a period of three years, vice Professor Mazhar Abbas. Professor Asif’s appointment is coming into effect today.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC ) has more reasons to cheer as the first double valve replacement surgery was successfully done by a team of JNMC surgeons headed by Prof M H Beg (Chairperson, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery) on 24-year-old, Yogesh, who was admitted with complaints of difficulty in breathing.
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has more reasons to cheer. In an interaction with the media, AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor has announced that the varsity’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) has got projects worth Rs 23 crores for various departments including the Department of Paediatric Cardiology.
He also confirmed that proposals for the establishment of a college of nursing and an institute of pharmacology in the university have been sent to the government.
