Mr Rajeev Shukla (Member of Parliament, Chairperson of Indian Premier League—IPL and Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association) today attended the national conference on ‘Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences (NCSEHS)—2017’ at the varsity’s Kennedy Hall Auditorium as the Chief Guest. The Conference was organised by the Sir Syed Bicentenary Celebrations Committee and the Department of Physical Education, AMU.
Begum Sultan Jahan Hall has recently concluded a three-day Inter-Hall sports Fest, ‘Velocita’. The fest was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr Dhirendra Singh Sachan, Chief Development Officer, Aligarh in the Presence of the Prof Subuhi Khan, Hall Provost and Wardens Dr Sana Chaudhary, Dr Sayema Jamal, Dr Ghazala Yasmin and Dr Huma Haider. Women’s College, AMU Sports In-charge, Dr Razia Rizvi and retired Sports In-charge, Dr Aziza Rizvi were also present on the occasion.
The Ahmadi School for Visually Challenged, Aligarh Muslim University is organising the ‘Sir Syed Bi-Centenary National Cricket Tournament for the Visually Challenged’. AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) is the Chief Patron of the event; while Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (Veteran) is the Patron of the tournament, which will be played at the University’s Willingdon Cricket Pavilion.
The Senior, Junior and Sub Junior teams of Aligarh Muslim University’s Skating club have brought laurels to the University by winning Roller Sports Championship, Uttar Pradesh. The 30 members of these teams will now represent Uttar Pradesh in the 54th National Roller Skating Championship to be held at Jodhpur from January 25 to January 29, 2017.
Host Aligarh Muslim University continued its winning spree by capturing the title of the North Zone Inter University Cricket Tournament. In an enthralling competition, AMU beat University of Delhi by 77 runs in the final match.
Aligarh Muslim University scored 203 in 40 overs (Salman Ahmad 62, Saad Ghazanfar 40, Narendra Sharma three for 33) bt University of Delhi scored 126 in 20.5 overs (Rohan Rathi 40 and Yogesh Kumar 25, Gavendra Goswami three for 15, Mirza Hashir Beg three for 20 and Sultan Ahmad three for 40).
Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad, Cricket Captain, Aligarh Muslim University has been selected to represent Pune Warriors cricket team in DLF I.P.L. (Indian Premier League).
He has recently represented UP in Ranji Trophy for 3rd consecutive year.
