The Indo-US APJ Abdul Kalam Centre of Excellence for STEM Education and Research, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in partnership with the Ohio State University (OSU), USA today started a two-day workshop on ‘Women in STEM Roadshows’ at the Women’s College Auditorium.
Professor Ariful Islam, Women’s College, Aligarh Musim University has been appointed as Chairperson, Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Aligarh Muslim University till 30.03.2018, which is the date of his superannuation. Professor Islam has been appointed in place of Professor Qazi Mazhar Ali.
Dr. Mrs. Hameeda Tariq, wife of Prof. Tariq Mansoor, the Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, today inaugurated a group show “Parwaaz-e-Zarrat”, an exhibition of art works of the artists of Fine Arts Department at Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery, AMU.
Creative paintings and digital art works of Areeba Fatima, Zeba Naaz, Annu Bala, Nishtha Agarwal, Swaleh Ansari, Jeff Foster, Saima Zaki, Tarannum Parveen and Shama Parveen have been displayed in the exhibition, which is scheduled to close on 27th May 2017.
Poets from all over India recently gathered in Aligarh Muslim University’s Women’s College for the Annual Mushaira (poetic symposium), which was inaugurated by AMU Pro Chancellor, Nawab Ibne Saeed Khan of Chattari and attended by AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) as the Chief Guest.
The Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University recently organised ‘ZARF 17’, a cultural and literary festival in the college premises.
The Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University today organised ‘Societies Fest Malhar-2017’, which was inaugurated by Mrs Rizwana Ali and Mrs Saira Shah Haleem. Mrs Rizwana and Mrs Saira were accompanied by Professor Naeema Gulrez, Principal, Women’s College and Professor Romana Siddiqui, Provost, Abdullah Hall during the inauguration.
While delivering the inaugural address Mrs Rizwana said that the students of the Women’s College are performing par excellence in their academic fields and are bringing laurels to their Alma Mater.
The Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah urged the students to prove their mettle through good work and exemplary performance and bring laurels to their alma mater. He was addressing the girl students after inaugurating the Coaching and Guidance Cell at the Women’s College, which has been constructed with financial support from the Federation of Aligarh Alumni Association (FAAA), USA.
Aligarh Muslim University’s Senior Research Fellow associated with the Department of Botany, Ms Ambreen Asif is attending the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom for an advance research in ‘Genetic Mapping’ after being awarded the prestigious ‘Newton-Bhabha Research Fellowship’. Ms Asif is working under the supervision of Professor Adam Price in Scotland.
She is pursuing Phd in AMU with specialisation in Genetics and Cytogenetics under the supervision of Prof M Y K Ansari.
To mark the celebrations of the International Women’s Day, Aligarh Muslim University’s Public Relations Office and Women’s College today jointly organized, ‘A talk on Gender Equality in Contemporary World’ by Mr Gautam S Bhatacharya, Deputy Head of Mission, Sweden Embassy, New Delhi. The talk, which was held at the Women’s College had AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (Veteran) as the Patron.
