AMU Observes Sir Syeds 120th Death Anniversary
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor with Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Tabassum Shahab and other university officials today offered a floral Chadar (ceremonial cloth) at AMU founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s grave to observe his 120th death anniversary.
A Quran Khwani (Recitation of the Holy Quran) was also organised at the university’s Jama Masjid after the Fajr prayer.
Prof Javaid Akhter (Registrar), Prof Tawqeer Alam Falahi (Dean, Faculty of Theology), Prof Abdul Alim (Chairperson, Department of Hindi), Prof Parvez Qamar Rizvi (Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences), Dr Rahat Abrar (Director, Urdu Academy) and Dr B D Khan (Provost, Sir Syed Hall—South) with other faculty members, students, non-teaching staff and Imams of various university based mosques were present on the occasion.
Sir Syed was born on October 17, 1817 in Delhi and left for heavenly abode on March 27, 1898 at Aligarh.
