Cricket Tournament Of Faculty Members Held At AMU
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University won the Inter-faculty teachers’ cricket tournament, which was played here at the Willingdon Cricket Pavilion of the University. The social science faculty team got the runner’s trophy.
At the finals of the tournament, the Social Science Faculty team won the toss and decided to bat first. It raised a score of 114 runs in 18.2 overs at a loss of no wickets. Merajuddin and Naushad scored 19 and 14 runs respectively, while Ajmal Kafeel and Najeeb of opponent team took 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
In reply, the Engineering Faculty team achieved the target in 17 overs with a loss of four wickets. Yusufuzzaman Khan and Arshad Bari scored 43 runs each while Jibrael took two wickets and Arshad and Meraj took one wicket each.
In the prize distribution ceremony, chief guest Prof Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, AMU, and the guest of honour, Prof Absar Mustafa Khan, former Secretary, University Games Committee gave away trophies and mementos to the players of winner and runner teams.
Man of the Match award went to Yusufuzzaman Khan, while Best Batsman prize went to Naushad, Best Bowler prize to Anas and Man of the Tournament award was won by Mohd Shamim.
Prof S Amjad Ali Rizvi, Secretary, University Games Committee, Prof M Mohsin Khan, Proctor, Prof Asfar Ali Khan, OSD to Vice Chancellor, Prof M Muzammil, Prof Moinuddin and Dr Faisal Sherwani, Coach Cricket Club were present on the occasion.
