Dept of Obstetrics And Gynaecology Observes Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
In a unique way of observing the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ week, doctors and staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) were seen in a joyful mood on the births of female children in JNMC. They distributed sweets and convinced parents to be happy with the birth of their daughters.
The department has also organised an interactive session in the new OPD block to sensitise patients about the sex ratio in and around Aligarh. Dr Kulsheshtra (Nodal Officer, PNDT, Aligarh) attended the programme as the chief-guest.
Prof Noor Afshan emphasised that to remove gender inequality we have to educate girls to the highest levels and also educate boys on women rights from a young age.
Prof Imam Bano spoke on the importance of financial security during pregnancy and urged women to save money for medical expenditure.
While conducting the interactive session, Prof Tamkin Khan said that there should be strict enforcement of law against female foeticide.
Dr Nasreen Noor , Dr Dalia Rafat, Dr Deeba Khanam also addressed the crowd and talked about the importance of female education and female empowerment.
The department also gifted photographs of new-born female children to their parents.
Dr Erum Ali, Dr Enaz Mushtaq, Dr Rashmi, Dr Amina Qurieshy and Dr Mehkat Ansari were also present on the occasion.
