Dept Of Psychology Concludes National Conference On ‘Professionalising Psychology In Meeting Contemporary Needs And Challenges’
The Department of Psychology, Aligarh Muslim University has concluded the National Conference on ‘Professionalising psychology in meeting contemporary needs and challenges’. The Valedictory Function was held at the Arts Faculty Lounge.
While presiding over the Valedictory Session of the programme, AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) said that it is the best to sleep over problems and live a stress free life.
During his address, the Vice Chancellor advised the young to remember about being physically active, taking good amount of sunlight, seeking parents’ blessings and availing proper psycho-education to live a stress free life.
General Shah further said that a special attention has been given to the Department of Psychology as Rs 50 Lakhs have been sanctioned for UG Labs and a research unit to meet the requirements of the Department.
Professor Mohd Shafiq, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi delivered highlighted the importance of the field of psychology in the recruitment and selection of personnel at various levels of both government and private sector. He also talked about the dire need of psycho-education for the well being and upliftment of society.
Prof Shamim Ahmad Ansari, Organizing Secretary of the programme laid emphasis on professionalizing the field of psychology, while Dr Nasheed Imtiaz presented the conference report.
Later in the programme, Prof Ravi Gunthey and Dr Anis Ahmed presented their impression on the two-day academic event. Both of them praised the hospitality and pleasant gestures provided by the members of the Department.
While conducting the programme, Dr Reshma Jamal thanked the AMU administration for their cooperation in making the event successful.
During the vote of thanks, Prof Mohd Ilyas Khan, Chairperson, Department of Psychology said the Department of Psychology has been improving academically and in infrastructure every passing day under the guidance and cooperation of present AMU administration.
