Filmsaaz-2014 to Commence on March 9

The University Film Club, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing the 7th International Film Festival of Short Films and Documentaries, FILMSAAZ-2014 from March 9-12, 2014 at Kennedy Complex.
 
Amir Khan, Convener, Filmsaaz said that the film festival organized AMU is one of its own kind and there is no example of such a film festival organized by any film society in any Indian academic institution. He said that it is a distinctive feature of this University, which is has maintained its recurrence every year. He said that it has come a long way today and secured a prominent position among international film festivals held in India.
 
Mr Amir said that the prominent bollywood figure Tom Alter, Imtiaz Ali, Sudhir Mishra, Pitobash Tripathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were parts on the previous film festivals, and this year Tigmanshu Dhulia has consented to grace the occasion as the chief guest. He said that Film Saaz acts as a hope for many young and new filmmakers, and provides a platform for reaching greater heights of success in days to come. It also targets professional grooming in film making in the current scenario of throat cut competition.
 
Dr FS Sherwani, coordinator, GEC and Mr S Abid Hasan, president, University Film Club said that it is an international film festival of short films and documentaries, which has been gaining popularity since the year 2008. This festival aims to promote and encourage an awareness and understanding of the art of Indian cinema.
 
Noted film critic, writer and journalist, Indian Institute of Mass communication, Ms Anna M Vetticad, producer-director Dr Parwez Imam and Anuj Kumar, writer and film critic are the jury members of the film festival
