New Students Attend Orientation In Faculty Of Law

As the newly admitted B A LLB students gear up to begin their academic journey in the Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), they attended an orientation programme for a formal introduction with the faculty members and with the ethos of the institution.

On the occasion, AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor pointed out that India Today has ranked AMU’s Faculty of Law as the second best faculty in India.

He added that the students should do justice to their chosen career by becoming good lawyers. Prof Mansoor further said that it is imperative to have the best communication skills to excel.    

The Vice Chancellor pointed out that the Faculty of law has excellent infrastructure and soon more smart classrooms will become operational in the faculty.

 He also urged students to be regular newspaper readers and to take part in various co-curricular activities.

 Prof Javaid Talib (Dean, Faculty of Law and Chairperson, Department of Law) pointed out that many AMU law students have qualified the Judiciary Services Examinations and there is a long list of notable alumni. He added that the Faculty of Law also has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the George Washington Law School, USA. Prof Talib also pointed out that Faculty of Law has the highest number of Phd students in AMU.  

Prof I A Khan spoke on the importance of dress code for law students and on the necessary steps taken to prevent ragging. He added that there is a continuous evaluation of academic performances of students. Prof Khan urged the students to perform their duties to make the university stronger.

 Dr Mohd Tariq (In-Charge, Law Society) said that the faculty has organised two national level Sir Syed Ahmad Khan Moot-Court competitions in 2015 and 2017 and a P A Inamdar National Moot-Court competition in 2016. He further said that teams from AMU’s Faculty of Law have won two national level Moot-Court competitions. He also said that the faculty has also been organising an Intra Moot-Court competition since 2015.    

 Prof Mahmood S Khan (Deputy Proctor, AMU) and Prof Mohd Sagheer Khan (Deputy Dean Students Welfare) also spoke on the occasion. Prof Zaheer Uddin proposed the vote of thanks.
