Prof Ali Athar Appointed As Indian Historical Records Committee’ Member

Prof Ali Athar (Department of History, Aligarh Muslim University—AMU) has been appointed as a member of the reconstituted Indian Historical Records Committee, National Archives of India, Ministry of Culture, Government of India for a period of five years.   

As an academic, Prof Athar has served as the Chairperson, Department of History, AMU. He has been the Coordinator of the Centre of Advanced Study in History in AMU, a member of the University’s Sir Syed Academy, former member of Akshay Kumar Maitreya Museum Committee of the University of North Bengal and a former member of the Advisory Committee, Cultural Tourism and Management, University of North Bengal. 

Prof Athar is a life- member, Indian History Congress and Paschim Banga Itihas Samsad.

 AMU. Prof Athar is also the Coordinator of Musa Dakri Museum.
