Prof Niyaz Ahmad Delivers Talk On Prokaryotic Genome Evolution
Prof Niyaz Ahmad from the Department of Biotechnology, University of Hyderabad, who is a ‘Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in Medical Sciences of India’ recipient and a senior director with the International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh delivered a talk on ‘Prokaryotic Genome Evolution’ at the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Explaining the mechanism of bacterial genome evolution and antibiotics resistance, Prof Ahmad delineated details of genomic and evolutionary microbiology.
He discussed the growing trend of multi drug resistance leading to emergence of super bugs and the related health hazards.
Prof Ahmad also spoke on the importance of health consciousness and the need of advanced and applied basic science research.
Prof Wasim Ahmad (Chairperson, Department of Zoology and Director, Academic Programmes Committee) welcomed the guest and participants, while Prof Syed Asif Akhtar Naqvi (Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences) presented memento to the guest.
