Pulmonology And ID (P&ID) Clinic Observes ‘World Asthma Day’
To mark the ‘World Asthma Day’, the Pulmonology and ID (P&ID) Clinic, Department of Paediatrics, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University recently spent a week to create awareness of Asthma in masses through different constructive activities.
Professor Farzana K Beig, Incharge, P&ID Clinic informed that a free check-up and asthma awareness camp was organized in a Aligarh based school, in which children and teachers were given basic information about causes and symptoms of asthma.
She added that another free check up camp and asthma awareness programme was held at Ward-17 of JNMCH, in which children with suspected asthma were examined and proper guidance was given to the parents about precautions to be taken.
While addressing the children and their guardians, Professor Beig said that children may have asthma if they are suffering with a recurrent occurrence of cough and breathlessness and wheeze with diurnal and seasonal variation.
She also added that in infants, recurrent wheezing is the most common presentation of asthma and early diagnosis and effective management of troublesome recurrent wheezing may decrease the high proportion of infants with recurrent wheezing.
Meanwhile, quiz and poster competitions for MBBS students, interns and nursing students for creating asthma awareness were also organized, in which more than 100 students have participated. Sarfaraz Ahmad, Syed Danish Iqbal and Sana Afsar received the first, second and third prizes in the quiz competition. Danish Kamal, Shruti Bansal and Shruti Shandilya received prizes in the Poster-making competition.
Nursing students: Wafa Naaz, Priya Singh, Farahana Parveen, Sachin, Shagufta Naaz and Mohd Faris N M also received prizes in various competitions.
Professor Amanullah, Dean, Faculty of Medicine graced the occasion with his presence. Dr Ayesha, Dr Kashif Al, Dr Iraj Alam, Dr Raza, Dr Thajfeer, Dr Tanveer, Dr Atif and Dr Bejander were also present on the occasion.
