STS School Organises Investiture Ceremony

The Syedna Tahir Saifuddin (STS) School, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today organised ‘Investiture Ceremony’ and established a ‘Student Council’ in the school.

Prof Afsar Ali Khan (Director, Directorate of School Education), who attended the function as the Chief Guest said that it is imperative for students to participate  in extra-curricular and cultural activities while maintaining excellence in education to bring out their creativity.

While delivering the welcome address, Mr Faisal Nafis (Principal, STS School) pointed out that with participations in debates and other competitions, students can learn about important issues happening in the world. He added that it is important to motivate students to take part in various competitions.

Mr Ali Akbar (Coach, Games Committee) urged students to be active in sports. He added that AMU has facilities to produce athletes of national and international levels. Mr Akbar pointed out that AMU has produced sportsmen like Zafar Iqbal, who is an inspiration for the university students.  

STS school felicitated Mr Ali Akbar and Mr Akhtar Husain Khan (Sports Teacher) for training STS School student, Naeem Ahmad, who was selected for the under-20 Indian roller-hockey team. Mr Syed Atiq ur Raheem (Theology Teacher) was felicitated for training school students, Azhar Dawood and M Zaid Khan, who went on to win the state level ‘Seerat-Speech’ competition in Lucknow.    

Mrs Haleema Razzaq conducted the programme. Ms Nasreen Fatima (Cultural Coordinator of the school) proposed the vote of thanks.

The newly elected ‘Student Council’ members are Syed Hasan Abedi (Head Boy), Alif Khan (Sports Captain) and Wajeeh ur Rahman Khan Yusufzai (Cultural Captain). The school also appointed new captains of various houses.
