Swachhta Drives Continue In AMU
Cleanliness drives continue in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) as part of the nation-wide, ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ with the Departments of Economics and English organising cleaning programmes and awareness campaigns.
The teachers, students and staff of the Department of Economics (Faculty of Social Sciences) observed ‘Swacchhta Pakhwada’ with the cleaning of the department and the adjoining areas. An essay writing competition on ‘Innovative ways for spreading the message of hygiene’ was organized, in which Mr Irfan Ahmad, Saleel M P and Mohd Umair Khan bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Prof Syed Noman Ahmad (Chairperson, Department of Economics) appreciated all the teachers, staff and students of the department for observing the ‘Pakwada’. Dr Jamil Ahmad (Convener of the program), Dr Jamil Ahmad, Dr Dastgir Alam , Dr Shahina Parveen, Dr Sheerin Rais and Dr Md Firdos Ahmad were also present.
The teachers, students and staff of the Department of English (Faculty of Arts), AMU came together to pledge and raise awareness on cleanliness across the nation. After rendering the pledge, Prof Seemin Hasan (Chairperson, Department of English) said that it is imperative to keep surroundings clean. She added that cleanliness promotes positivity and a clean environment is conducive to improved productivity.
Prof Hasan with Prof S N Zeba, Prof Sami Rafiq, Prof Shahla Ghauri, Dr Rashmi Attri and other teachers, staff and students cleaned the lawn, corridors and classrooms to observe the ‘Pakwada’.
