Vice Chancellor Inaugurates Skills Lab In JNMC
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today inaugurated the Skills Lab of the Department of Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC).
Later in a special function at the Surgery Seminar Room after the inaugural, the Vice Chancellor said that the development of skills is a continuous process and learning never stops in medical science.
He pointed that the presence of Skills Lab in JNMC will improve standards of postgraduate teaching. “Soon the postgraduate courses will have strength of 63 students,” said the Vice Chancellor adding that with the rise in the number of students, the skills lab will be very helpful in training and teaching.
Prof Mansoor also congratulated Prof Mohammad Aslam (Chairperson, Department of Surgery) and his team for the new lab.
Prof S C Sharma (Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal, JNMC) said that the new state-of-art, skills lab will provide the teachers and students with facilities to hone up their pre-operative skills.
Prof Mohammad Aslam (Chairperson, Department of Surgery) said that MCI makes it mandatory for all medical institutes to establish skills lab. He further said that ‘See one, all one and teach one’, the guiding principle for over a 100 years is no longer tenable and widely questioned.
Further talking on the importance of skills lab, Prof Aslam said that these labs make easy the learning of simulation process, an innovative procedure in which the trainee works in comfortable environment.
Prof Mohammad Habib Raza (In-charge, Skills Lab, JNMC) said that the partnership with ‘Johnson and Johnson, India’ will be a great help in imparting the laparoscopic surgery skills in postgraduate students. Prof Raza also proposed the vote of thanks.
