ZHCET Students Won Paper Presentation Competition AT IIT-K
A team of four B. Tech. (III Year) students – Tanwee Kausar, Rishabh Kumar, Deepesh Arora and Priyanka Gupta from Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University has won the First prize in Paper Presentation Competition, EUREKA TECHKRITI’12—the Annual Technical and Entrepreneurship Festival held at IIT, Kanpur. The award carried a cash prize of Rs. 5,500/- and a winner trophy. The paper entitled “Vanets – Revolutionizing the Transit System” brought the first ever achievement of this kind to the Aligarh Muslim University. The team, nicknamed as Avant Garde, is busy in innovative and creative activities and has developed a new algorithm on their own. Their paper will also be published in the IIT Kanpur’s technical magazine, NERD (Notes on Engineering Research and Development).
The Paper Presentation competition comprised of three rounds. The first round completed with the submission of abstract of papers by about 500 participants out of which only 300 participants were short-listed. In the second round, full paper was submitted in which only 60 out of 300 papers were selected.
The last round was held at the IIT Kanpur campus where the students of IITs and other reputed engineering colleges demonstrated the theme of their paper through a Poster Presentation before a panel of Professors of IIT Kanpur who judged the event. The judges were overwhelmed by the presentation for its originality and innovation as it presented an entirely new algorithm for a complex scenario of 4-lane highway based on VANETs.
Techkriti-2012, one of the largest technical festivals in Asia based on the theme of 'Technology for the Future' comprises various competitive events, talks, exhibitions, shows and workshops. Eminent personalities like Richard Stallman, Deborah Berebichez, Victor Hayes ,Deepak Mohanty and others graced the various programmes held during the four-day festival.
