Dept Of Community Medicine Organises Free Screening Camp For Mirzapur Residents

The Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) with assistance of ‘Soch beyond Imagination’ organised a free screening camp for diabetes and hypertension patients at Mirzapur, one of the adopted villages of AMU.

Prof Ali Amir (Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine) addressed the Mirzapur residents on the rise of diabetes and hypertension cases in school going children and adolescents.

Malappuram Centre Celebrates Independence Day With Fervour

The Malappuram Centre of Aligarh Muslim University celebrated Independence Day with fervour.

After unfurling the National Flag, Prof Abdur Rasheed KM (Director, Malappuram Centre) spoke on how Indian Freedom struggle saw a huge participation from students, educationists and reformists. He emphasised that freedom is precious and living together is invaluable.

Dr Faisal KP (Coordinator, Department of Law, Malappuram Centre) talked on constitutional values of equality, Fraternity, Secularism and Socialism.

AMU Felicitates Alumna For Heading Five Regional Museums

The Aligarh Muslim University Pro Chancellor, Nawab Ibne Said Khan of Chattari and Prof Abduraheem K (Chairman, Department of Museology, AMU) felicitated Mrs Naaz Rizvi (AMU alumna and Director, National Museum of Natural History, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, New Delhi) with a memento for her achievement of heading five regional museums in Sikkim, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Mysore and Savai Madhopur in Rajasthan.

AMU Phd Student Receives Science Communication Award in Australia

Mr Salman Ahmad, a Phd student with the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been conferred with ‘Science Communication Award’ at an international conference held in Australia. The conference was organised by the Australian Society of Fish Biology at Albany, Australia.

AMU Professor Discovers Molecules To Be Used As Drug For Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria

In 2014, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) academic and scientist, Professor Asad U Khan found highly resistant New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-4 (NDM-4) Superbug in an Aligarh sewage. With hard work and consistent efforts, Prof Khan has now discovered new molecules effective against multi-drug resistant bacterial infections which will be used as an antibiotic drug.  

Prof Khan’s new discovery will now leave physicians and scientists with a great sigh of relief.

ZHCET Organizes ‘Orientation Programme’ For The Newly Admitted B Tech And B Arch Students

The Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor was today present at the ‘Orientation Programme’ for the newly admitted B Tech and B Arch students organized by Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET).

While welcoming the fresh batch of B Tech and B Arch students, the Vice Chancellor said that since AMU with its distinct culture is unique, the newly admitted students have an onus of carrying forward AMU founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s legacy.

Advance Centre For Women’s Studies Inaugurates 10-day ‘Research Methodology Workshop’

The Advance Centre for Women’s Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today inaugurated a 10-day ‘Research Methodology Workshop’ sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).  

Delivering the keynote address, Prof Nishi Pandey, an eminent educationist from the University of Lucknow said that it is imperative for researchers to go beyond authorized, recognized and generally accepted theories and look for new things.

Series Of Events Organised In Mauritius As Part Of Sir Syed’s Bicentenary Celebrations

As part of world-wide Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s Bicentenary Celebrations, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), High Commission of India; Urdu Speaking Union, Mauritius and Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association (AMUAA), Mauritius organised a series of events which included exhibitions of calligraphy paintings and sculptures, a release of  ‘Commemorative Day Cover’ by Mauritius Post and a two-day academic conference on the life and works of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC), Mauritius.
